Wayne Gersoff, M.D.
Physician Society President
Dr. Wayne Gersoff recognized his desire to enter a career in medicine, and, in particular, surgery, at an early stage in his education. Orthopedic surgery provided the unique blend of science, biomechanics, and technical skills as a mechanism to help people. This, coupled with his life-long participation in and love of sports, drew him to a career in orthopedic sports medicine. Following his academic years, Dr. Gersoff was recruited to the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in 1987 to develop and direct a program in sports medicine, as well as serve as team physician for the University of Colorado athletic teams. During his career, he has continued to be actively involved in sports medicine and has served as team physician for the Colorado Rockies baseball team, the Denver Grizzlies hockey team, the U.S. Ski Jumping team, and the Denver Public Schools. He presently serves as team physician for the Colorado Rapids professional soccer team and is a medical advisor to the Colorado High School Sports Activities Association.
